We are Europe largest platform for Charge Point Operators (CPOs) and Electronic Mobility Service Providers (eMSPs). We are looking for a Sr. Database Administrator  to join our international team based in a beautiful office in the historic center of Rotterdam.

 

Your role

As a Senior Database Administrator, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and optimizing our data infrastructure to support our rapidly growing platform. Your expertise will be crucial in designing, implementing, and maintaining robust database systems that can handle millions of transactions each month, with a growth rate that doubles annually. You’ll be at the forefront of our efforts to scale our data architecture, ensuring it remains efficient, secure, and highly available as we expand.

In this critical position, you’ll have the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technologies and tackle complex challenges. Your deep understanding of database management systems, performance tuning, and data modeling will be essential as you develop strategies to accommodate our exponential growth. You’ll be empowered to make key decisions that directly impact the stability and scalability of our data ecosystem, contributing significantly to the success of our business operations and customer satisfaction.

 

Your main responsibilities are

  • You will collaborate on designing, implementing and maintaining the infrastructure data platform.
  • You will work closely with software engineers to ensure they leverage the latest insight in the realm of data and databases.
  • You will play an important role in improving the performance, security and scalability of our data estate.
  • Monitor system performance, identify bottlenecks and implement solutions to enhance overall data estate health.
  • You will maintain and improve our current infrastructure and drive the transition to a state of the art data estate.
  • Continuously evaluate and adopt new technologies and methodologies to cater for our ever growing demand.

 

You recognize yourself in:

  • Strong drive for automation, recognizing, analyzing and converting manual processes to automated ones
  • Team player that is willing to back-up other team member’s work, even when outside comfort zone
  • Experience working in a DevOps culture with a modern data estate
  • Ability to communicate effectively both with infrastructure engineers as well as software engineers in a diverse international environment.
  • Incident Management based on a 24/7 rotation (on-call rotation).

 

  • Bachelor degree in Computer Science or related field
  • 5+ years of experience of experience as a Database Administrator, with expertise in major database platforms (e.g., PostgreSQL, Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server)
  • Advanced knowledge of database concepts, including performance tuning, indexing, and query optimization
  • Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., SQL, PL/SQL, Bash, Python) for automation and database management
  • Strong understanding of database security principles and best practices
  • Experience with cloud database services (e.g., AWS RDS, Azure SQL Database) as well as running data bases in private cloud.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure in a 24/7 production environment
  • Experience in a highly complex or matrix organization
  • Proven experience being part of multiple parallel projects and programmes
  • Enjoy working in a hybrid situation, with 2+ days at the office
