What does e-clearing.net do?

The goal of e-clearing.net is unhindered access to charging infrastructure across network and national borders. In October 2014, the EV roaming platform was established as a joint venture of the Dutch foundation ElaadNL and smartlab Innovationsgesellschaft mbH from Germany.

The e-clearing.net initiative offers an open platform to all market participants in electric mobility. This B2B platform enables cross-border interoperability in electric vehicle charging and related services. Through the platform, participating partners can share the data needed for user authentication, billing, real-time information and other ever-expanding use cases.

  • An open market model that gives full autonomy to connect; people choose the partners they want to connect to and the data they want to exchange.
  • An open business model for direct business relationships without intermediaries.
  • No cost per transaction, token or charge point, but a fixed contribution.

e-clearing.net uses the open protocol OCHP which contains all the necessary functionalities.
e-clearing.net enables the exchange of all relevant data between parties. Three types of data are exchanged: roaming authorization, data on charging transactions and information on charging points.

Since 2015, e-clearing.net has also offered additional real-time communication in the form of the extension OCHPdirect. OCHPdirect enables all the data exchange required for remote operation, live information, reservation and smart charging of charging stations.
