Utrecht, 23 May 2018 – It’s a unique insight into the energy system of the future. Tonight, for the first time in Europe, twenty fully electric cars were simultaneously charged on the power of the sun, even though the sun had already set.
This unique demonstration of Smart Solar Charging took place at the Jaarbeurs in Utrecht in the presence of State Secretary Mona Keijzer (Economic Affairs and Climate). Also present were Mayor Jan van Zanen, Jaarbeurs director Albert Arp and Utrecht representative Pim van den Berg.
The demonstration of twenty charging points, 200 solar panels and an oversize battery makes the commercial use of smart solar charging official. The battery enables the coordination of supply and demand for renewable energy. With a capacity of 400 kW and a capacity of 800 kWh, it has enough capacity to fully load twenty fully electric cars simultaneously with solar energy. Even if the sun isn’t shining
