Last Mile Solutions maintains triple ISO certification

Why it matters for everyone in the EV charging chain

As an EV charging platform provider, our customers trust us to keep everything working seamlessly behind the scenes. That means security, privacy, and quality are non-negotiable.

To maintain that trust, we’ve held three ISO certifications since 2019, and successfully renewed it again in 2025. We’re the first in our industry to achieve ISO 9001:2015, ISO/IEC 27001:2022, and ISO/IEC 27701:2019 certifications. For us, compliance isn’t a box-ticking exercise but a toolkit for better customer service.

In this article, Lina Chu, Continuous Improvement Manager and Stefan van den Heuvel, Chief Information Security Officer at Last Mile Solutions explain how ISO standards help e-mobility businesses stay ahead of regulatory demands and rising customer expectations.

Why ISO certifications matters to your business

As ISO certifications become a basic requirement in supplier contracts, our long-standing track record gives you clear proof of compliance and continuous improvement.

“These certificates help EV charging companies meet their regulatory needs by showing they work with a trusted partner,” Stefan explains.

Annual external audits push us to keep improving our processes, security, and privacy. “As the EV charging market evolves, we evolve with it. Our customers keep getting better experiences, year after year,” he adds.

What our ISO standards means in practice

ISO/IEC 27001 – Information security you can trust

In the EV charging industry, security failures can expose private data, compromise vehicles, and even bring down the grid. The ISO/IEC 27001:2022 certificate ensures we identify your critical business data, store it correctly, and recover it when needed. It also requires us to plan for incident response, disaster recovery, and business continuity.

“It’s a clear signal to the market that we take our customers’ data seriously,” says Stefan.

As we scale—with 5 to 10 new hires each month—ISO/IEC 27001 helps us embed security into every employee’s onboarding and daily work.

Our commitment to security goes beyond certifications. As a founding member of the Electric Vehicle Charging – Information Sharing and Analysis Centre (EVC-ISAC), we work closely with industry peers to share insights and proactively strengthen cybersecurity across the sector.

ISO/IEC 27701 – Privacy protection that meets global standards

Personal customer data demands stricter protection than company data, and privacy requirements vary across countries. ISO/IEC 27701:2019 helps us manage that complexity so we know what data to collect, how long to store it, and which privacy laws apply.

This certification shows that we follow industry best practices to protect your end users’ data. In practice, this means encrypting data, maintaining privacy and data retention policies, regularly auditing their effectiveness, and embedding privacy considerations into our procurement and development processes.

We also prioritise transparent communication with customers and suppliers, and keep our staff trained on the latest privacy requirements.

ISO 9001 – Quality that keeps operations running

ISO 9001 standard focuses on the quality of our company processes and service delivery. “It’s the glue that connects the other ISO standard certificates,” says Stefan. “It ensures good practices are rolled out across the company and not just on paper.”

That includes everything from processing invoices to testing charging station compatibility. Customer feedback plays a big role in how we improve. This year, we’re introducing customer satisfaction (CSAT) surveys across all client-facing processes.

“People don’t always associate quality with things like business continuity or capturing knowledge, but they’re two of its core pillars,” says Lina. “If someone’s off sick or leaves the company, we have systems in place to keep operations running and ensure their knowledge isn’t lost.”

Why we take ISO standards seriously

Achieving three ISO standard certifications is no small task. It takes serious planning and investment. “Certification isn’t something you do on a quiet Friday morning,” says Stefan. “But we see it as a worthwhile commitment because it directly improves how we deliver our services and supports our strategic goals.”

Lina adds, “We see the certifications as a practical toolkit rather than a burden or test we need to pass. It makes it easier for us to keep improving.”

This year’s external audit spanned seven days and involved every department. “Because we take it seriously, the results were great,” says Stefan. “There were only a handful of small remarks, which are useful inputs for improvement.”

Staying ahead of industry changes

New regulations like the Network and Information Security (NIS2) Directive and the Cyber Resilience Act are raising the bar for compliance. But if you’re ISO standard certified, you’re already one step ahead.

“Many new requirements are covered by our certifications,” Stefan explains. “To stay compliant, we run a gap analysis and make any needed changes before laws take effect.”

ISO standard compliance is a continuous process for us at Last Mile Solutions. “The world keeps changing, so there are always areas to improve. Even if the improvements are smaller over time, the work never really stops,” Stefan concludes.
